Is Elon Musk Feeling OK?

I’m sure I’m not the only one wondering lately whether Elon Musk is heading totally and completely off the rails? I mean, if he was just a regular bloke then, well, so what, right? It would be none of our business. But he is not only the richest man in the world, he’s gone from being a modest, hard-working geeky Prometheus bringing forth marvels for the benefit of mankind to behaving like a very smug, opinionated, intolerant, interfering megalomaniac. In fact, he recently tweeted this:

One moment he’s posing with Nigel Farage in a strong show of support amid rumours of him intending to fund Farage’s Reform Party in the UK, and then just a few days later Elon Musk is declaring that Reform needs a better leader, because Farage is, well, suddenly not quite fit enough.

This is very erratic and petty behavior. Musk, the “free speech absolutist” who bought Twitter to save free speech, has been using his power to weaken the voices of his opponents on X. There’s no honour in that sort of behavior and it seems like he’s not taking time to think before he makes loud and consequential statements. It’s like a drunken recklessness that causes havoc, while the drunk thinks they’re being terribly impressive.

No doubt he’s high on his new close kinship with Trump and the fact that, if the current plan for his “Department Of Government Efficiency” were to see fulfilment, he would enjoy a huge amount of influence over several basic levers of the USA government. Of course, this could change very suddenly if he were to fall foul of Trump’s goodwill. If he behaves erratically enough Trump may be forced to reign him in.

On another note, it’s widely known that Elon Musk has been using the drug called ketamine, which some consider an effective treatment for depression, and it is my understanding that he uses this medicine for this condition, properly prescribed, mind you, by a qualified physician.

Well, I don’t know very much about ketamine, but I do know it is quite widely used recreationally or experimentally by those who like to get high.

The mere fact that a medicine has been prescribed by a doctor does not somehow magically protect the patient from negative side-effects, including the danger of developing an addiction, which is of course something that easily happens with mood altering drugs.

Which brings me to the very conspicuous Saturn-Neptune opposition in Elon Musk’s natal chart. This is arguably the most potent aspect in his chart: it is the aspect with the tightest orb (less than half a degree from exact) and oppositions are more potent than all other aspects, except perhaps the conjunction.

You can get a feel for what Saturn-Neptune combinations are about on this page from Reinhold Ebertin’s book, The Combination of Stellar Influences:

Saturn combining with Neptune has a distinctly disintegrating and degenerating effect. It is one of the most common signatures of illnesses of body, mind and soul. It brings about a feeling of hopelessness, helplessness and deep fatigue. I sometimes jokingly call it “the hobo complex” because it tends to produce a sense of being so overwhelmed by your duties and burdens that you want to escape, possibly through some sort of self-medication. The “hobo” is what you get when that trajectory runs it’s full course.

There is another face of Saturn-Neptune that I sometimes call “the yogi”; the embodiment of supreme austerity and discipline. Equanimous detachment that enables one to see things clearly and to be in touch with both physical and spiritual realities and to perceive the nature of the relationship between material and spiritual realms.

Somewhere in between you get the “practical idealist”. Such people often work selflessly for others or for an ideal, but they are prone to periodic “wobbles” to their poise and emotional equanimity. Some of these may ascendant to become yogis, while a few will slip and totally lose their footing and end up sliding back into the shallows and miseries of the “hobo” state. When Saturn-Neptune develops addictions, the slope gets very slippery. In fact, people often make an intense effort to overcome addictions in Saturn-Neptune cycles, typically because these addictions become obviously dangerous and catastrophic in the person’s life.

What worries is me is that Elon Musk could be in danger of sinking. I don’t wish this for him. This is not something I say with the kind of relish that a Musk hater would. In fact, I was quite an admirer of his accomplishments. I still am, actually, even though I’m not a MAGA and Trump devotee by any stretch. People don’t have to be right, correct and endearing in every way to deserve admiration for their talents. It is from a sympathetic concern that I notice what is happening. It would be far better for the world if Elon Musk was happy, healthy and productive.

There are some other factors to note regarding his astrology. For one, his secondary progressed Sun is approaching a square to his natal Jupiter, while also forming a semi-sextile aspect to his natal Pluto. This is a pretty clear description of a person who feels powerful and practically omnipotent. The Sun-Jupiter square will become exact closer to the middle of 2025, so this Sun-Jupiter bombast and self-righteousness may not have reached it’s zenith just yet.

Also, his secondary progressed Mars is moving into an exact quincunx aspect to his natal Mercury, and this too looks like it will become more rather than less intense in the months to come. The recent “f**k yourself in the face” tweet looks exactly like that kind of energy; destructively aggressive and offensive speech that can alienate more people than he seems to realize.

Around June 2025 Musk will have his secondary progressed Moon square his natal Saturn and Neptune. This could be a pivotal time for him. I expect it would bring him down to earth in some way. He may no longer feel he is riding the crest of the wave and his inherent susceptibility to bouts of gloom will most likely recur.

On a grander scale, between roughly late 2027 and mid 2028, his progressed Sun will form a t-square with the Saturn-Neptune opposition and there could be a more consequential test of his ability to walk the fine tightrope between Saturn’s gravity and Neptune’s longing for la-la land. I won’t assume the worst. Who knows, he could straighten out significantly by then and be, at least, a healthy-ish “practical idealist”, if not a “yogi”.

I honestly hope and pray he’ll pull himself towards himself, because he seems to slipping, and not even all the wealth in the world can shield him from the consequences; and due to the great magnitude of the enterprises he leads, the consequences could be far reaching beyond his own personal health, happiness and effectiveness.
